US-based renewable energy company General Compression has closed the first tranche of its $54.5m series B round after starting its first wind farm in Texas with investor and oil major ConocoPhillips.
The other investors were utility Duke Energy; venture capital firms Northwater Capital Management and US Renewables Group; and Serious Change, an angel fund run by serial eco-entrepreneur Josh Mailman.
ConocoPhillips had earlier in the year committed to a corporate venturing fund, Energy Technology Ventures, managed by General Electric.
