Cenovus Energy-backed General Fusion, a company which is working on nuclear technology that would fuse molecules of hydrogen to form helium, has secured $1.6m towards a $4.6m equity round, according to a recent filing .
General Fusion raised $19.5m in a series B round in May 2011. Alongside Cenovus’ Environmental Opportunity Fund in the round were Bezos Expeditions, the family office of Jeff Bezos, founder of online retailer Amazon, and venture capital firms Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital, GrowthWorks, Braemar Energy Ventures, Entrepreneurs Fund, SET Venture Partners as well as the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) .
