US-based cloud orchestration and data scalability company GigaSpaces Technologies has secured $20m in a series D round backed by semiconductor producer Intel’s corporate venturing unit, Intel Capital.
The round was led by Claridge Israel, a partnership formed by Claridge, which acts as the investment vehicle for Stephen R. Bronfman, and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, and included venture capital fund BRM Capital and growth equity firm FTV Capital.
Founded in 2000, GigaSpaces produces cloud application, orchestration and data scalability platforms. The cash will go toward product innovation, sales and marketing.
Intel Capital initially participated in a $6m round led by BRM in 2005, before the two were joined by FTV for a $7m series C round in 2007. It secured a $7m credit line with Plenus Venture Lending Fund the following year.
Zeev Bikowsky, GigaSpaces’ CEO, said: “This speaks to the importance of giving enterprises and carriers a pure-play orchestration option for management and automation across VMware, OpenStack and public cloud environments.
“Similarly, we solve the problem of collecting and analysing vast amounts of information about application behaviour in real-time.”
