Global Wings reaches higher with $149m

China-based aviation services provider Global Wings Business Aviation Technology has collected a RMB1bn ($149m) investment from aerospace and defence equipment producer Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

Government-owned AVIC supplied the funding through multi-property trust manager AVIC Trust and investment firm Shanghai Yuanlong Investment.

Founded in 2015, Global Wings oversees business-focused aviation services including an online platform that enables users to book seats on private jets and charter flights.

The company also provides aircraft sales, financing and management services, ground-based aircraft servicing, flight support, in-air catering, integrated marketing and maintenance consultation services for airline operators.

Global Wings said it has worked on acquisitions of approximately 200 aircraft in addition to more than 50 sales, and has provided aircraft management services for more than 100 planes.

In addition to bolstering its aircraft chartering, management and maintenance capabilities, Global Wings plans to use the investment to enhance its fixed-base operator services as well as its air freight and logistics offerings.
