Kickstart Ventures, the corporate venturing unit for the Philippines telecommunication firm Globe Telecom has invested $100,000 in Manila based startup Kalibrr.
Kalibrr, founded in January this year by UC Berkeley graduates Paul Rivera and Dexter Ligot-Gordon, is an online training and networking platform for Filipinos’ seeking employment in the business process outsourcing industry.
Kalibrr runs online courses which aim to improve English grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Upon completing the curriculum the firm refers its graduates to corporate partners who pay Kalibrr a fixed fee for each candidate hired.
The firm plans to expand its services internationally and to other provinces in the Philippines. Kalibrr co-founder Paul Rivera said: “Through this investment, we aim to disrupt the way people prepare for and qualify for work globally.
