Google, Greylock lead $2.4m seed funding

US-based Expect Labs, which recently came out of stealth to announce a group voice and video calling app for the iPad that analysis and understands conversations in real-time, has raised $2.4m in seed funding led by Google Ventures and Greylock Partners. KPG Ventures, IDG Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and Quest Venture Partners also participated as well as Several individual investors including Naval Ravikant, Gil Elbaz and Don Hutchison. Expect labs expects to release their voice predictive app MindMeld in late October.

Expect Labs was co-founded in 2011 by Tim Tuttle and Monihder Jheeta, who were both involved in successful video search platform Truveo, which was acquired by AOL for an undisclosed amount in 2006. Expect Labs were finalist of the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, the industry’s premier event for launching up-and-coming technology startups.

The new funds will be used for scaling Expect Labs’ technology infrastructure and starting the developer platform and API for the MindMeld app.
