Google shares $6m for TopFloor

Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of search engine Google, has participated in TopFloor’s $6m Series A round.

TopFloor, a social e-commerce website, is a startup born out of US-based incubator Science and has just recently made its public debut. The round was led by Polaris Ventures, a seed and early-start up venture capital firm, specifically for those companies developing information and medical technology.

The Series A also saw involvement from independent venture capital and growth equity firm Crosslink Ventures (which has more than $1.8bn in assets) and early-stage venture capital firm Rustic Canyon Partners.

TopFloor has developed a video-driven e-commerce platform that allows brands, retailers, and any celebrity or “influencer” to sell directly to their social followings and receive proceeds when the people they refer buy their items.
