Gopalakrishnan takes advisor role at IDG Ventures India

Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of India-based IT services provider Infosys, is now an advisor at IDG Ventures, a corporate venturing affiliate of media company International Data Group, the Economic Times reported on Wednesday.

Gopalakrishnan will direct the fund on strategy and investments, and will help seek out new sectors in which it can invest.

IDG Ventures India hired Ratan Tata, former chairman of conglomerate Tata Group, as an advisor last month. It is currently looking to raise a $200m fund, and an undisclosed industry expert told ET Gopalakrishnan’s presence would help attract family offices to commit capital.

Sudhir Sethi, managing director of IDG Ventures India, said: “(Gopalakrishnan’s) vast experience in building a large-scaled organisation in Infosys is very valuable to our portfolio CEOs.”
