US-based mobile gaming company Hammer & Chisel has raised an undisclosed amount in a series B round backed by internet company Tencent.
Accelerator Studio 9+ and venture capital firm Benchmark Capital also participated.
Hammer & Chisel previously raised $8.2m in a series A round led by Benchmark. The round included media and entertainment company Time Warner, IDG Capital Partners, a China-focused investment firm supported by technology research and media company International Data Group and venture capital firm Accel Partners, Studio 9+ and General Catalyst Capital Partners.
In 2011, Hammer & Chisel secured $1.1m in seed funding from IDG, General Catalyst, Studio 9+, and Accel.
The company develops multiplayer games for mobile devices such as phones and tablets. It will use the new funding to expand into emerging markets around the world.
