US-based cybersecurity company Voltage Security, backed by industrial conglomerate Siemens, has been acquired by computing firm Hewlett-Packard for an undisclosed amount, Wall Street Journal reported yesterday.
Siemens Venture Capital, the corporate venturing arm of Siemens, participated in Voltage’s series C round in 2005, which raised $15m and was led by venture capital firm Jafco Ventures – Jafco has since changed its name to Icon Ventures.
The company raised $28.5m according to regulatory filings. Remaining investors include Trident Capital, Hummer Winblad Venture partners, Morgenthaler Ventures, Menlo Ventures and Cipio Partners.
Voltage has developed data protection technology for businesses that includes encryption and tokenization, a process which limits access to sensitive information by only referencing it rather than providing direct access.
