Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of mobile semiconductor producer Qualcomm, has joined internet and telecommunication group SoftBank in a $100m series B round for US-based consumer technology developer Humane.
The round was led by investment firm Tiger Global Management and included Plexo Capital, the VC fund spun off by internet technology group Alphabet, and law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
Bond, Forerunner Ventures, Kindred Ventures, Time Ventures, Valia Ventures, Next Ventūres and individual backers Sam Altman and Lachy Groom also contributed capital.
Humane has yet to announce any products or services but said it is building technology “that puts people first”. The series B funding will enable the business to scale its operations.
The company was co-founded by Imran Chaudhri, a former director of design at electronics producer Apple and Bethany Bongiorno, a former software engineering director at Apple.
Altman and Groom co-led a $30m series A round for the Humane in September 2020, after it previously raised nearly $12m, according to a TechCrunch report.
