Humedica clinically raises $33m

Humedica, a US-based clinical intelligence company for health care providers, life sciences and research organizations, has raised $33m in its series C round from a consortium including local drugs maker Merck.

Humedica’s filing also said venture capital firms’ James Nahirny, a managing director at Bain Capital Ventures, Hemant Taneja, MD of General Catalyst Partners, Bill Geary, partner at North Bridge, and Jeffrey Leerink, executive chairman of merchant bank Leerink Swann, are board directors.

In May 2011, Nasdaq-listed healthcare provider Allscripts made a strategic investment in Humedica “to enhance its existing portfolio of analytics solutions and address a fundamental shift in the way healthcare providers are paid”.

Allscripts joined existing Humedica investors Bain Capital Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners and Leerink Swann.

In 2008, Humedica raised $29.5m.
