ID.me, the US-based identity verification technology producer backed by financial services provider USAA, received $19m on Wednesday in a series B round led by growth equity firm FTV Capital.
Founded in 2010 as Troopswap, ID.me has developed a system called Identity Gateway that uses a single application to remotely authenticate identity data and documents.
The company claims its technology is secure enough that the same login can be used to access multiple federal agencies.
ID.me plans to put the money toward sales, marketing and product development. It has raised approximately $30m in equity funding and $7m in debt financing altogether, and FTV Capital partner Liron Gitig will join ID.me’s board in conjunction with the round.
USAA, which is also a customer, invested as part of a $10m series A round in 2014 that consisted of $7.5m in equity and $2.5m in debt financing from backers also including Silicon Valley Bank, Box Group, K Street Capital, Blu Venture Investors and angel investor Kelly Perdew.
