US-based pathology technology startup SigTuple has secured $5.8m in a series A round featuring IDG Ventures India, a venture capital affiliate of IT media firm International Data Group, Livemint reported today.
VC firm Accel led the round, which also featured Endiya Partners, Pi Ventures, VH Capital, and Axilor Ventures in addition to angel investors including Sachin Bansal, Binny Bansal and Amit Singhal.
Founded in 2015, SigTuple is developing an artificial intelligence-equipped system that can be used to digitise the testing of blood, urine and semen samples in the pathology process.
The technology is reportedly capable of scanning images of blood to detect abnormal blood cells, tracking sperm cells in microscopy videos and making digital reports for sample tests.
The startup, which had previously raised $740,000 in seed capital in late 2015, will put the funding toward product development, increasing the size of its team and expanding internationally.
