ZMP, a Japan-based developer of autonomous driving technology, has received an undisclosed amount of investment from Intel Capital, semiconductor company Intel’s investment unit.
Founded in 2001, ZMP produces autonomous driving technologies including car robotics platforms, sensor systems, visualisation and analytics, and connected car informatics. These systems can be tailored to each customer’s needs, such as eco driving in an efficient car, or safety-based driving.
Hisashi Taniguchi, chief executive of ZMP, said: “ZMP is excited about collaborating with Intel, which is the global leader in computing. We believe that we can further accelerate the research and development in autonomous cars and take the first step in expanding our business worldwide through this investment.”
The funds from this investment will be used to help ZMP accelerate the development of autonomous and assisted driving technologies.
“Intel and ZMP share a goal to bring the safety and convenience of autonomous vehicles to all drivers,” added Elliot Garbus, general manager of Intel’s Automotive Solutions Division. “By utilising Intel technology, ZMP can push the limits in automotive innovation and deliver technology that will enable safer driving experiences.”
