Intuition Robotics, the Israel-based companion robot developer backed by domestic robot producer iRobot and carmaker Toyota, has secured $6m in funding from investors including Mirai Creation Investment, Nikkei Asian Review has reported.
Intuition is working on a personal robot equipped with cognitive computing, cloud robotics and natural communication technology that will help senior citizens to remain active and in touch with friends and relatives.
Mirai Creation Investment was formed by carmaker Toyota, financial services firm Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and investment firm Sparx Group. The round took Intuition’s overall funding to $26m.
Toyota subsidiary Toyota AI Ventures led the company’s last round in July this year, a $14m series A featuring Bloomberg Beta, the early-stage investment arm of Bloomberg, as well as iRobot, Maniv Mobility, OurCrowd, Terra Venture Partners and unnamed existing backers.
The company had previously received $6m from Bloomberg Beta, iRobot, Terra Venture Partners, OurCrowd and Maniv Mobility across two rounds, the latter of which closed in February 2017.
