Investors dish out $15m to Plated

US-based meal-kit delivery service Plated has raised $15m in a second tranche of series A funding from investors including corporate-backed venture capital firm Formation 8, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

The round was led by venture capital firm Greycroft Partners and included participation from VC firms FF Venture Capital, Lerer Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Kite Ventures and Slow Ventures.    

Plated delivers fresh ingredients and recipes to monthly subscribers who can prepare meals at home. The funding will support the expansion of Plated’s operations across the US. 

Plated raised $5m in its first tranche of the series A round in January from ff Venture Capital, Lerer Ventures, Founder Collective, Great Oaks Venture Capital and private investors. It secured $1.4m in seed funding in May 2013 from FF Venture Capital, TechStart and angel investors.
