Sweden-based mobile payment company Izettle has raised a further €5m ($6.8m) in series C funding from venture capital firm Hasso Plattner Ventures, following a previous Intel Capital-backed tranche.
The company, raised €40m ($55m) in May from Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit of seminconductor maker Intel, private equity fund manager Zouk Capital, which led the round, Dawn Capital, Index Ventures, Greylock Partners, Northzone, Creandum and SEB Private Equity.
Izettle takes chip card payments using mini readers that can interact with smartphones through bluetooth. The capital will be used to expand in existing markets, while targeting other countries for possible expansion.
Izettle raised $15m in a series A round in 2011 from Index and Creandum, which was followed by $32m in a series B round in 2012 led by Greylock and Northzone, which also featured payment services firm Mastercard.
Another payment services company, American Express, and financial services firm Santander are also past investors.
