Jopwell recruits Teneo for $7.5m series A

Jopwell, the US-based creator of a diversity-focused recruitment platform, has secured $7.5m in a series A round that featured Teneo Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of advisory firm Teneo.

Venture capital firm Cue Ball Capital led the round, which included Y Combinator, Omidyar Network, Kapor Capital, and Valar Ventures, SJF Ventures and Blue Ivy Ventures.

Founded in 2014, Jopwell has built a digital recruitment platform that connects students and professionals from diverse backgrounds with hiring managers at large companies. Its corporate clients include Airbnb, Blackrock, Facebook, Lyft, Pfizer and Pinterest.

Jopwell will use the new capital to continue development of its platform, expand its network of partner companies and invest in its digital magazine.

The company raised $3.25m in a January 2016 seed round featuring Cue Ball Capital and fellow VC firms Valar Ventures, Kapor Capital and Andreessen Horowitz as well as investment firm Omidyar Network and investment vehicle Magic Johnson Enterprises.

The seed round followed the $1m Jopwell secured in an early 2015 angel that included Y Combinator, Rothenberg Ventures and Zillionize.
