Mass media group Comcast has led an $18m series C round for Israel-headquartered lighting technology provider Juganu through corporate venturing unit Comcast Ventures, CrunchBase News has reported.
Customer technology producer Amdocs also took part in the round, as did Viola Growth, the growth capital fund operated by venture capital firm Viola Ventures. The same three investors had supplied $12m for Juganu six months ago.
Founded in 2011, Juganu has created a system that uses a wide-band wireless network to connect thousands of artificial intelligence sensors in order to form a lighting system that can mimic natural lighting.
Eran Ben-Shmuel, Juganu’s co-founder and chief executive, told CrunchBase News it is working on a system that will blend forms of ultraviolet light to kill covid-19 pathogens.
The company had initially raised $23m in a July 2019 round led by Viola Growth and backed by equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd and an undisclosed Mexico-based investment fund.
