Google-backed social game developer Kabam released its latest game, The Godfather: Five Families, exclusively on Google+ on Thursday. The game represents the first major cinematic licensing for social gaming, as well as the first to launch exclusively on Google’s social network.
Kabam’s series D round raised $85m in May, with Google, semiconductor maker Intel and wireless communication conglomerate SK Telecom among the investors. Online betting company Betfair was an earlier backer. Kabam has raised $125m since it was founded as Watercooler in 2006.
The release came on the same day as Google incorporated its Gmail service with Google+, enabling users to link their email contacts with their social network account.
