US-based additive manufacturer KeraCel closed a $14m series A round yesterday led by automotive components producer Musashi Seimitsu Industry and backed by unnamed new and existing investors.
KeraCel has created a 3D printing system designed for high-volume manufacturing. The funding will support the growth of its engineering and product teams and completion of a proof-of-concept additive manufacturing platform.
The company had secured $2.3m in seed funding from undisclosed investors in January 2020 and its existing backers include Candou Ventures.
Hiroshi Otsuka, president and CEO of Musashi Seimitsu Industry, said: “Musashi is impressed by KeraCel’s unique technology that has the potential to create synergy with Musashi’s energy solutions business.”
