Germany-based clinical research company Amcure has raised €5m ($6.7m) in a series A round led by LBBW Venture Capital, the corporate venturing arm of Germany-based financial conglomerate Landesbank Baden-Württemberg.
German state-backed banks KfW, MBG, S-Kap Beteiligungen Pforzheim and BioM also contributed to the round.
Amcure spun out from university Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2012. The company receives some funding from the German Ministry of Education and Research through its Spinnovator programme, a €40m ($54m) fund for life sciences startups, which is managed by technology transfer partner Ascension.
The additional funding will be used for the development of tumour therapeutic agents from research started at KIT, and for clinical trials.
