Lucente follows Ballard into Transpera

Dean Lucente has been hired as chief revenue officer at Transpera, a US-based mobile video advertising network backed by Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit of semiconductor company Intel.

Before joining Transpera, Lucente was vice president of sales, operations and business development of IAC Advertising, the $200m media sales arm for Evite, Match.com, Pronto, Gifts.com, and IAC Audiences.

The hire follows the appointment of Greg Ballard as chief executive in June, with incumbent Frank Barbieri moving to become chief product officer. Ballard previously spent six years as executive president of mobile gaming firm Glu Mobile and led its flotation in 2007

As well as Intel Capital, venture firms Flybridge Capital (formerly part of media group International Data Group), First Round Capital, Labrador Ventures and Blackberry Partners Fund, which has phone maker Research In Motion as a large limited partner, have also backed Transpera.

The company’s $9m series C round closed in June, two years after its $8.25m series B round. The series A round closed at an undisclosed size in mid-2007.
