Pingping (Shirley) Mao has been promoted to executive director and head of overseas investment at China-based consumer electronics producer Xiaomi.
Mao had previously spent nearly three years as head of India investments at Xiaomi, which has recently invested in WorkIndia, Sharechat, Zest Money and TouchTalent.
Xiaomi’s co-founders, Lei Jun and Tuck Lye Koh, also invest in India through their Shunwei Capital fund, which manages about $3bn and owns a portfolio that includes Kuku FM, Zomato, Meesho and Rapido.
Mao’s earlier roles include managing director for investment fund PreAngel Partners and senior investment manager for online lender CreditEase in China.
