Payment services provider MasterCard launched MasterCard Masters of Code, a worldwide hackathon competition with a $100,000 prize, last week.
The hackathon will be organised by developer relations company AngelHack and will take place across 10 cities across the US, Australia, China, Singapore, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Turkey and the UK.
Participants will need to build prototypes based on application program interfaces (APIs) provided by MasterCard that have clear business uses.
In addition to the prize money, the winner will also be able to spend two weeks at MasterCard’s Start Path accelerator in Ireland, and will get access to six months mentoring from MasterCard and free payment processing for up to $250,000 in transactions for a year, using the company’s Simplify Commerce payment service.
