Peter McKay has joined Desktone, a Citrix Systems-backed provider of virtual desktops, as its executive president with the incumbent, Harry Ruda, moving up to be chairman.
Prior to joining Desktone, McKay was an executive at venture capital firms North Bridge Venture Partners and Insight Ventures and executive president of software company Watchfire, which he sold to computer group IBM.
Desktone raised $5.4m in its series B round in March from undisclosed investors. Financial investors Highland Capital Partners, SoftBank Capital, Citrix Systems and China-based Tangee International had backed Desktone’s $17m series A round in 2007.
