Fintech company Simplex and public-private partnership Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) have participated in a $20.4m series B round for Japan-based software network virtualisation software developer Midokura.
Allen Miner has also taken part in the funding round, which has increased Midokura’s total capital to $44m according to its latest press release.
INCJ previously led a $17.3m series A round in 2013 that also included telecoms firm NTT Docomo’s investment division NTT Docomo Ventures – then known as NTT Investment Partners Fund – and venue management company NEC Group’s unit Innovative Ventures Fund Investment.
In 2011, data centre provider Bit-Isle, NTT Investment Partners, software vendor 1st Holdings and assorted private investors supplied $1.3m in seed funding.
Founded in 2010, Midokura is developing technology to easily build and manage cloud infrastructures.
The money will allow the company to offer 24/7 support for its MEM product, accelerate product development, hire additional staff at the executive and development level, and sign additional partnerships.
