Highway1, a US-based hardware incubator backed by Ireland-based consumer product manufacture PCH International, has graduated its second cohort of businesses, according TechCrunch.
A total of 12 companies participated in the class, each gaining a small investment from Highway1, workspace for their team and a trip to Shenzhen, China, in order to see the realities of their supply chains and make connections.
The companies that took part this year are:
Construkts – the creator of a building block system that connects the real and virtual worlds;
Keyboardio – the developer of a computer keyboard that focuses on design and style;
Lumo – the builder of a projector aimed at moving children away from playing on computer screens and toward larger surfaces such as walls and floors;
Modbot – the developer of an easy-to-assemble robot building package that reportedly makes building a robot up to 10 times faster than before;
PalateHome – a producer of smart and connected cookware, including a tablet-connected grill that enables users to control cooking temperature and other factors;
Podo – a small Bluetooth camera that can take photos and stream live video directly to smartphones;
Sensilk – a developer of connected clothing, including a sports bra with an inbuilt heart rate monitor;
Shortcut Labs – the creator of a shortcut button that can be programmed to launch any application as needed;
SigSense – a module that connects to smartphones to log different types of data which can be sent to a central system where multiple inputs can be collated;
Sugarcube – the creator of a way to connect any device to a TV to allow on-the-go presentations;
SwitchEmbassy – a producer of connected fashion items, including a handbag that can display new designs and texts;
Wink Labs – the developer of a digital photo frame that makes the displaying of photographs easy, simple and passive.
