US-based pet technology developer Whistle closed a $15m series B round today led by Nokia Growth Partners (NGP), the corporate venturing arm of communications technology producer Nokia.
The round also featured wireless semiconductor product maker Qualcomm, Melo7 Tech Partners, Queensbridge Venture Partners, DCM and Slow Ventures.
The round boosted Whistle’s overall funding to $25m. It raised $6m from a 2013 series A round led by DCM that also featured Red Swan Ventures, Slow Ventures and a host of angel investors.
Whistle produces software designed to help owners care for pets. It supplies an activity tracker and a medicine tracker, and announced the funding at the same time as its acquisition of Tagg, a pet tracking global positioning system subsidiary of Qualcomm, for an undisclosed sum.
Paul Asel, NGP’s managing partner, will join Whistle’s board of directors in conjunction with the funding.
