Venture capital firm Norwest Venture Partners, which invests on behalf of bank Wells Fargo, has led a $30m series D round into medical device company Intersect ENT, an acronym for ears nose and throat.
Also involved in the round were return backers Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, US Venture Partners, PTV Sciences and medical technology company Medtronic.
The company, formally known as Sinexus, previously raised $30m in 2010 from Medtronic. Also involved in the earlier round were venture capital firms PTV Sciences, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and US Venture Partners, which previously invested $20m in Intersect ENT’s series B round in June 2008.
The new funds will be used to develop a range of nasal implants.
Separately, StellaService, a US-based provider of customer service ratings for online retailers, raised $15m in its B round led by Norwest and included Battery Ventures, DFJ Gotham Ventures, RRE Ventures and Forerunner Ventures.
Josh Goldman, partner at Norwest, has joined the StellaService’s board.
