China-based, startup-focused research firm Oddup has collected $6m in series A funding from a consortium led by Brand Capital, an investment subsidiary of media company Times Group, according to the Economic Times.
Venture capital firms 500 Startups, Click Ventures, Moneta Ventures and White Capital also supplied funds.
Oddup has created a subscription-based platform to rank startups based on factors such as funding, media buzz and the calibre of investors. The tool also offers an insight into expected future valuations and industry trends.
The money will enable Oddup to drive its expansion across Asia, having already established a presence in markets such as Shenzhen, Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore and Melbourne.
The company has raised approximately $7m in total funding, according to ET. In 2015, Kima Ventures, Click Ventures and Bigcolors co-led a $1m seed round, with participation from Big Bloom, Glooh Ventures and assorted angel investors.
