Paratek Microwave, a phone tuning company backed by STMicroelectronics, has been sold to Canada-based handset maker Research in Motion for an undisclosed sum.
Investors in Paratek were venture firms Polaris Ventures; Morgenthaler Ventures; Novak, Biddle, and ABS Ventures, Grande Ventures, New Markets Venture Partners as well as Sweden-listed Investor,Russia-based private equity firm S-Group Capital Management and the CIA’s quasi corporate venturing unit In-Q-Tel. The company has raised an estimated $91.4m in its history.
Paratek raised $20m in 2008, according to this Securities and Exchange Commission filing. It subsequently raised $19.4m in 2007, according to another filing. The company also raised $20m in 2006, it also raised $23.4m in 2003 and it raised $8.6m in 2002.
