ParkMe finds a spot at Inrix

ParkMe, a US-based provider of real-time car parking data backed by publisher International Data Group (IDG), was acquired by big data technology company Inrix for an undisclosed amount yesterday.

Originally founded as Parking in Motion, ParkMe enables drivers to find the closest car parks based on criteria such as disabled spaces, opening times or the availability of an electric car charger, and offers price comparison and the ability to reserve a parking spot.

Inrix provides real-time traffic information and related services, such as congestion prevention. The company will use ParkMe’s technology to strengthen its offering to clients including car makers Audi, BMW and Lexus, as well as transport agencies.

ParkMe will continue to operate under its own brand and will remain at its current offices in California.

ParkMe secured an undisclosed amount in a 2013 series B round featuring IDG Ventures USA, IDG’s local investment affiliate. Angeleno Group led the round, which also included Fontinalis Partners. IDG and Fontinalis previously invested an undisclosed sum in ParkMe’s 2011 series A round.
