PSA helps ship series A capital to Deliveree

PSA Unboxed, the corporate venturing subsidiary of port operator PSA International, has participated in a $14.5m series A round for Thailand-based logistics marketplace Deliveree, Tech in Asia reported on Monday.

Venture capital firm Gobi Partners led the round, which also featured private equity firm Asia Summit Capital, as well as VC firms and company builders Inspire Ventures and Ardent Capital.

Deliveree has developed an online platform that provides businesses with access to commercial vehicle drivers who can deliver goods for them on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The company’s offering is available in Bangkok in Thailand, Jakarta in Indonesia, and Manila, in the Philippines, where it is known as Transportify. It had previously received $2m in seed capital from Inspire Ventures and Ardent Capital in early 2015.

Gagan Singh, chief financial officer of Deliveree, told Tech in Asia there has been substantial investment in small-parcel, last-mile consumer logistics in recent years, but that the sector suffers from poor operating economics, an issue Deliveree believes its technology can address.
