Randstad launches HR technology corporate venturing fund

Netherlands-based human resources services provider Randstad has launched a corporate venturing fund, the Randstad Innovation Fund, which will target HR technology companies.

Randstad plans to make several small investments over the next two years in startups that are involved in social sourcing, online platforms, mobile solutions, virtual solutions, gamification and big data analytics. It will be managed by Ilonka Jankovich, who joined Randstad as innovation investment manager in May 2013, and Paul Jacquin, who has worked in mergers and acquisitions for the company since January 2011.

“Our ambition is to shape the world of work, and technology is a crucial element to achieve this”, said Linda Galipeau, a  member of Randstad Holding’s board of directors. “The Randstad Innovation Fund can play an important role in accelerating the understanding of technology innovations in our industry and will be able to give input for our future strategy and contribute to innovative solutions for our clients.”

Randstad Innovation Fund’s first investment will be in Gigwalk, a US-based software platform that can enhance collaboration between brands and retailers. The fund invested alongside Nokia Growth Partners, August Capital, Harrison Metal, and SoftTech in a $10m series B round.
