US-based IT infrastructure technology provider Robin Systems closed a $15m round yesterday co-led by a subsidiary of financial services provider USAA and venture capital firm DN Capital.
The round, which also included VC firm Hasso Plattner Ventures and unnamed existing investors, boosted Robin’s total funding to $22m since it was founded in 2013.
Robin produces data storage containerisation software incorporating a blend of containers, flash, and storage virtualisation technologies that helps businesses improve their data applications.
Gopi Rangan, executive director of USAA corporate development, said: “When USAA invests in a company, we’re looking for innovations that could help us better serve our members. Robin has demonstrated a new perspective on data infrastructure and we are excited to invest in them.”
The funding was announced at the same time as the appointment of Premal Buch as Robin’s chief executive officer. Buch came from programmable logic device manufacturer Altera, where he served as vice president of software engineering.
