The Rubicon Project, an advertising technology company backed by corporates including media company News Corporation and media company International Data Group’s Asia corporate venturing unit, has recruited Brian Pike as chief technology officer.
Pike previously was chief technology officer for events business Ticketmaster. Former Ticketmaster deputy general counsel Victoria von Szeliski has also joined the Rubicon Project as general counsel, while former Yahoo vice president of product management John Slade has joined as senior vice president of product management.
The Rubicon Project’s technology allows publishers to connect with buyers and sell ad inventory in real time.
Pike said: "I chose to join the Rubicon Project because very few companies in the world have had the scale to process trillions of trades with such algorithmic complexity in less than 30 milliseconds per transaction. I will apply my knowledge of how to build a large-scale trading infrastructure with international demands to strengthen Rubicon’s position as the advertising technology leader. I look forward to extending our trading platform’s capabilities into markets such as mobile and video."
In 2010 Rubicon Project raised $18m in funding. Rubicon is backed by News Corporation, after it acquired the Fox Audience Network ad technology platform from the US-listed media company.
Other investors include IDG Ventures Asia and Peacock Equity Fund, now part of Comcast Interactive Capital, and venture capital firms Clearstone Venture Partners and Mayfield Fund and angel investor Jarl Mohn, the founding executive president of Liberty Digital.
Rubicon previously raised $42m in equity and debt.
