US-based mobile application (app) developer Taptera has raised $2m of series A funding from US-based cloud computing software company Salesforce.com, and a collection of angel investors. The round was led by investor Terence Garnett, formerly of computer technology corporation Oracle.
Founded earlier in the year, Taptera will use the capital to develop business-oriented apps for Apple mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad. Taptera’s first app is Colleagues, a mobile employee directory scheduled to be released in the autumn.
Alongside the investment, Mike Janson will join Taptera from Salesforce as chief technology officer. While at Salesforce, Janson directed the development of online collaboration tool Salesforce Chatter.
