Salesforce fires up $125m Europe Trailblazer Fund

Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of cloud enterprise software provider Salesforce, launched a $125m fund today that will invest in Europe-based startups.

Europe Trailblazer Fund will back developers of cloud enterprise technologies at assorted stages of growth. In 2015, Salesforce allocated $100m to be invested through Salesforce Ventures, and it has since built up a portfolio of 50 Europe-based companies.

The fund represents the latest of a series of Trailblazer Funds formed by Salesforce, the most recent of which was the $50m Australia Trailblazer Fund it established in March this year.

Salesforce had initially put $50m into the SI Trailblazer Fund in 2017, in order to invest in cloud consulting companies, before setting up a $100m Canada Trailblazer Fund in May 2018 and a $100m Japan fund seven months later.

John Somorjai, executive vice-president of corporate development and Salesforce Ventures, said: “Europe is a clear leader in cloud technology today, and we are excited to deepen our investment in the region.

“Our commitment to European startups reflects the growth of innovation, our belief in the local entrepreneurs and our focus on creating the world’s largest ecosystem of enterprise cloud companies to drive customer success.”
