Samsung finds its personal assistant

Canada-based Maluuba has launched its new artificially intelligent personal organiser app following a $2m boost from Samsung Ventures.

Samsung Ventures backed the artificial intelligence (AI) application with series A capital in February to accelerate its development of a rival to search engine Google and technology provider Apple. It is understood the app from the fledgeling company could be pre-installed on Samsung handsets, following Google’s own AI personal assistant technology available for Android mobile phones and Apple’s Siri app is used on its iPhone.

Separately, last month Samsung Ventures invested $4m in US-based Carbon Design Systems, which specialises in providing components for architectural analysis and pre-silicon hardware or software validation with digital model generation.
