Ann Sarnoff, president of US-listed media group News Corp’s Dow Jones Ventures subsidiary, has resigned to become chief operating officer of BBC Worldwide America, part of the commercial division of the UK state broadcaster.
Sarnoff, who also held the role of senior vice president for strategy and development at Dow Jones, is departing along with Gordon McLeod, president of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network.
Todd Larsen, president of Dow Jones, in a statement seen by Global Corporate Venturing, said: "As they prepare to leave later this month, we are at work on plans for a smooth and successful transition."
Over the past four years at Dow Jones, Sarnoff led the launch and growth of the Wall Street Journal executive conferences business as well as its financial career site, Fins.com, Larsen said. She also consolidated and led the print and online classifieds business, Vertical Markets, he added.
Sarnoff and Larsen were unavailable to comment.
Before Dow Jones, Ann spent much of her previous career in television, including more than 10 years at Viacom as chief operating officer for VH1 and CMT: Country Music Television and at Nickelodeon she developed merchandising for Rugrats and Blues Clues. At BBC Worldwide America she will be working for Herb Scannell, the former president of Nickelodeon.
