NGenTec, a UK-based of parts of wind turbines, has raised £2m ($3m) split equally from Netherlands-based SET Venture Partners and the local government’s Scottish Co-investment Fund.
Wouter Jonk, managing director of SET Venture Partners, an independent firm with local utility Delta as a limited partner, has become a board member of NGenTec.
He said: "As an investor solely focussed on sustainable energy technologies we have looked at many initiatives in the offshore wind industry. We are confident that the true value of this innovation will be adopted by wind turbine manufacturers worldwide."
The £2m round followed an £800,000 grant from the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change’s Environmental Transformation Fund and NGenTec spin out from the University of Edinburgh in 2009.
