Signal Sciences highlights $15m series B

US-based web application security technology developer Signal Sciences has closed a $15m series B round featuring O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures (OATV), the corporate venture capital arm of media group O’Reilly.

The round, which increased the company’s overall funding to $26.7m, was led by VC firm CRV and also featured existing investors Harrison Metal and Index Ventures.

Signal Sciences has developed a web protection platform (WPP) that combats cyberattacks across cloud, physical and containerised infrastructure without disrupting production traffic. It announced the series B round together with the launch of the platform.

Andrew Peterson, co-founder and CEO of Signal Sciences, explained: “Signal Sciences WPP allows security teams to collaborate with their development and operations teams to automate security and release secure software faster, thus enabling their business to run quicker.”

OATV co-led the company’s $2m seed round with Harrison Metal in 2014 before Index Ventures led its $9.7m series A in March 2016.
