US-based sleep monitoring technology developer SleepScore Labs has initiated a partnership with SleepScore Ventures, a newly formed venture initiative that will fund sleep-focused startups.
Founded in 2016, SleepScore Labs was created by medical device maker ResMed, asset management firm Pegasus Capital Advisors and physician Mehmet Oz to research technologies associated with sleep and overall health.
The company has created a mobile app and smart products that are powered by ResMed to monitor, track and analyse sleeping patterns, providing advice on how users can sleep better. It also offers data insights, product evaluation tools and technology licensing opportunities.
SleepScore Ventures will leverage technology from SleepScore Labs and ResMed to help find and invest in seed and early-stage companies developing new technologies to help improve the quality of sleep.
Recipients of funding will also be able to distribute products through SleepScore’s mobile store and its retail partners.
Colin Lawlor, SleepScore Labs’ chief executive, said: “SleepScore Ventures will help identify the most effective sleep solutions and provide funding to make sure as many consumers as possible will benefit.
“We are excited to help like-minded brands have the opportunity to validate and progress their offerings.”
