SmartSynch aligns with investors

SmartSynch, a US-based electricity equipment company, has raised $25.7m from 26 investors in an interim close as part of a planned $33.4m round.

SmartSync had previously raised more than $67m, including a $20m series E round in 2008, according to a regulatory filing. From its website, SmartSynch said Battelle Ventures, an investment firm whose sole limited partner is Battelle Memorial Institute, had invested $12m in October 2005 to join corporate venturing units Siemens Venture Capital, OPG Ventures and Cinergy Ventures and investment firms JPMorgan Partners (now private equity firm CCMP), Kinetic Ventures, Nth Power, Endeavor Capital, Lime Rock Partners and GulfSouth Capital.

By June 2003 SmartSynch had raised more than $35m.
