Internet and telecommunications group SoftBank led a $19.5m series B round for UK-based transport integration software developer Splyt yesterday, acquiring a “significant share” of the company.
The round included American Express Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of payment services provider American Express, along with undisclosed additional investors.
Splyt’s technology allows businesses to integrate mobility services such as ride hailing, airport transfers and bicycle or electric scooter rental options into their mobile apps.
The company’s customers include on-demand ride provider Grab, payment services provider Alipay and online travel agent Booking.com. It secured $8m in series A financing from investors including Grab in June 2019 to take its overall funding to $14m.
SoftBank invested Splyt through a business partnership and the proceeds will fund the addition of more mobility services to its platform. Daichi Nozaki, head of SoftBank’s Global Business Division, is joining its board of directors.
