Industrial technology and appliance producer Robert Bosch has acquired US-based carpooling platform Splitting Fares (SPLT) for an undisclosed sum, allowing carmaker Jaguar Land Rover’s InMotion Ventures subsidiary to exit.
Founded in 2015, SPLT has created an online platform that enables partner organisations such as businesses, universities and municipal authorities to organise ride sharing for their staff members. It has about 140,000 users across the US, Mexico and Germany.
The company raised an undisclosed sum from InMotion and Ann Arbor Spark in February 2017, and the acquisition represents the former’s first exit. It will continue to operate independently post-acquisition.
Anya Babbitt, SPLT’s co-founder and CEO, said: “With this sustainable and affordable mobility service, we want to fundamentally change the way people get from A to B. We believe we have a good chance of global growth together with Bosch.”
