Biotech venture capital firm Kurma Life Sciences Partners, has led a $22m series B fundraising round for Stat-Diagnostica, a medical technology company based in Barcelona.
Life sciences venture capital investors Ysios Capital and Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund also joined the round, alongside private equity firm Idinvest and local investment companies Axis Participaciones Empresariales and Caixa Capital Risc.
Stat-Diagnostica has developed small “near patient testing” systems that allow for the rapid diagnosis of a number of serious illnesses, and is aiming to roll out the product across Europe for clinical use in 2015.
The company, which was founded in 2010, has now raised just under $25m. In June 2011 Axis led a $2.6m series A. Ysios Capital Partners also participated in the round.
