Sun Catalytix hires Decelle

Sun Catalytix, a US-based energy storage and renewable fuels company backed by Indian conglomerate Tata, has hired Mike Decelle as its executive president.

Decelle was previously chief executive of Lumenz, a US-based light-emitting diode technology company, and three earlier start-ups in the photonics industry: NoblePeak Vision, Apogee Photonics and ASIP.

In October, Tata led the $9.5m series B round for Sun Catalytix in order to provide insights for its car making subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover.

Ralf Speth, chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover, joined the board of Sun Catalytix, which has technology to split water and generate hydrogen and oxygen and hence renewably-generated electricity.

Venture capital firm Polaris Venture Partners, as well as unnamed others, filled out the remainder of the B round. Polaris provided the third tranche of seed money to Sun Catalytix in November.
